Conceptual Design
The goal of this process is to define how the masonry heater will look and how it will be located in the context of your overall home design. We will work with you to determine the best location and design for your heater. We will also explore options such as including an oven, heated benches, and domestic hot water heating. At the end of the process, you should expect completed 3D drawings of the heater, and a plan drawing of its location (including considerations for clearances to combustibles, hearth extensions, and chimney placement).
Construction Documents
The goal of this process is to complete an architectural sheet that describes the masonry heater and its interaction with other building components in such a way as to ensure a smooth process for the builder, building officials, foundation contractors, carpenters, chimney installers, and masons involved. These drawings will detail the foundation requirements for the heater, floor framing requirements, chimney placement and framing requirements, outside air specifications, etc.
