This visual document we are publishing today is several years in the making and reflects our effort to help masonry heaters become more a part of vernacular building systems. Whether you are a homeowner, professional heater builder, or architect, it is a great task to communicate the project with sufficient detail that everyone involved has both ease and clarity at the point of making it happen. The intention of this document is to make the whole process easier.
|
We are also publishing the first version of our masonry heater budget and materials list worksheet which you will find at the end of the document. The goal of that sheet is to clearly define the materials needed so that the project's cost can be accurately estimated and easily ordered.

We are going to direct people with questions to the forum topic so that we can keep a clear trail of the items that need clarification in the drawings. We consider each question that comes up as an opportunity to improve our documentation.

With the price of energy in the forefront of global consciousness, this is a good time to evaluate an investment like a masonry heater for the comfort, resilience, and sustainability it offers. Engaging in wood as a fuel source also implies a responsibility towards conservation and stewardship of the trees and forests that provide this fuel.
