Dear reader,
I like to say that the year is just long enough that the beginning of each new season brings something both familiar and refreshingly new. That feeling is especially true as autumn arrives, shifting our attention toward the cozy warmth of the heating season.
“Welcome to the 21st century–what was old is new again! We wanted an environmental fireplace for our home after learning that traditional fireplaces actually consumes your home’s oxygen and heat. Investing in a masonry heater has been one of the best decisions we ever made. A warming system used in ancient Europe, has become a modern necessity. The heat stays in the house, not up the chimney. One small bundle of dry wood keeps us warm for up to three days! And the comfort is like a warm glove on a frosty day. We also love the fact that we can enjoy the crackling fire without the soot and imperfections of a traditional fireplace. We’ve had our stone masonry heater for 26 years and have loved every snuggly minute!”

This masonry heater was built by the legendary Jerry Frisch. We like the creative outside volume that was added to the functional inside shapes. For additional photos and information about this heater, see the full post.

Planning a Masonry Heater?

We continue to be hard at work on design, documentation, and putting the finishing touches on a kit to facilitate building custom masonry heaters. We look forward to sharing more information very soon. In the mean time, we wanted to make sure that you were aware of these planning documents on our website which give a good general tour of the information you need to know in planning a custom masonry heater build.
Dates for next year's Masonry Heater Association (MHA) Annual Meeting at the Wild Acres Resort in Little Switzerland, North Carolina have been published:

We look forward to being in touch shortly and wish you a smooth transition into the autumn season!
